What is People Building? Well, it’s complicated to some but simple to me.
I see and communicate potential in people.
My personal mission is to share the love of God as I teach, inspire, encourage, comfort and empower others.
How do I do this?
I teach by word and action; I inspire by word and song; I encourage by praise; I comfort by loving acts; and, I empower by seeing and communicating potential.

How has this been lived out in my life up to this point?
• As a jobs skills trainer,
• As an educator, and
• As a communicator.
Having lived around the world the most of my life, I am quite comfortable in most any environment. I particularly enjoy getting to know and interact with new cultures. In fact, during our 10 years on Guam, I served as editor of the region’s first multi-lingual Micronesian language publication, The Arongarong.
After a few years in the multi-lingual realm, I stepped over and served as editor of Directions magazine, a 100-page full-color business publication. Quite a jump from doing it all to being able to focus entirely on editorial content. Having done my stint as a journalist, I returned to the world of entrepreneurship and teaching.
After Guam, we spent 10 years in Kailua Kona, Hawaii. It was during those years that the opportunity presented itself to provide online and CD-based training. Having spent nearly a decade providing classroom job skill and computer application training for first the Professional & Technical Institute of the University of Guam and then the Business & Technology Training Institute in Kona, I had long been frustrated by traditional training approaches for the subjects I taught. Not knowing what the student knew when they came into the class and not really knowing what they knew when they left, the only honest certificate I could give was one that stated they attended the class. Very dissatisfying for someone who is a teacher by nature.
I knew that especially with the software application training, within a week or so my students would come up against something in their work that required a function we had covered but they rapidly forgot simply for lack of using it.
Imagine my joy in realizing that I could have the opportunity to provide learners with training that provides:
- An initial assessment;
- Intermediate assessments;
- A final assessment; and,
- A completion certificate that states their level of achievement!
Plus! Long-term reinforcement through access for up to one year.
Now this is “rubber-meets-the-road” training. This is something I can be proud of providing.
And today…
Well, we left the tropics in 2008 to settle in the beautiful southeast corner of Arizona. The tropics were gorgeous, but the high desert has a beauty all its own. We love to just gaze at our surroundings.
Our ten years in Hawaii set a record for my life. It is the longest I have lived in one location in my entire life! I was born on the East Coast (North Carolina) and raised on the West Coast (the San Diego area). Once I hit adult life, I lived in California, Turkey, Nevada, Kansas, Guam and Hawaii, and have visited Japan and Spain. It has been a fascinating life full of stimulation, learning and growing.
For the past 20 years I have worked as a business consultant. In March of 2006, I established IQT2 Corporation & Empowered Learning Solutions, a business communications and training company. Our business development services revolve mostly around project proposal development. In the communications realm, we provide services relating to public, investor, government and community relations; marketing communications; and, writing, editing and training.
With two decades of globe-spanning entrepreneurial experience and degrees in both business communications and business management, I am convinced that effective corporate communications help hold a company to its chosen course – as long as it holds integrity its guidepost.
